Between You And Me

Let’s not be coy with our intentions.
Emotions are unruly at this hour,
and…
I can taste cinnamon desire
as I read aloud to you.

Our nightly pilgrimage,
on stanzas of sand
but your mind knows the way.
Eyes dimmed,
Lips drawn.
You sojourn.

The sonics of my thoughts,
fetter your distress.
And for once,
the world is still.
Distant.
Immaterial.

Voyage on my voice,
until dawn intrudes.
And, I’ll keep reading
until all that is,
is here between you and me.
