Oh, But To Be Divine

We are creatures of habit—
vicious habit.
Chained to a normalcy
that we cannot define.

What do we find
so mesmerizing about the mundane?
I would proffer that
we have betrayed the true nature
of our being to appease a social order
that is unnatural.

The Fallacy of the Bourgeois Black

There is no comfort in being black.
The bourgeois are not safe.
The poor are not people.
And if life is but a vapor,
then ours is a painful exhale.
